Experience Level: Under the right circumstances, i.e. proper supervision, diving conditions, and their own comfort/attitude, an inexperienced, or "novice," diver could do any of the dives on Saba.
Being a CURRENT and COMFORTABLE diver is often more important than the number of dives, especially if it has been a long time since the last dive. As certified scuba divers, all of us are responsible for our actions and should plan all dives based on our skill, experience, and dive conditions. As licensed and experienced Instructors and Dive Masters, the staff of Saba Deep Dive Center assists individual divers with that responsibility and also helps them become better divers.
When divers are exposed to challenges beyond their confidence level and acquired skills, they often do not have a good time doing it and there is also the possibility of added risk to both them and the Dive Masters alike. We have highly trained and experienced staff members. However, when divers, who have limited experience, or after a long dry spell, no pun intended, are planning to visit here, they should consider a refresher course before making their trip to Saba. The island has a rugged coastline, with no beaches, and many of the most exciting dive sites are found offshore, in the open ocean. These unique features are, in many ways, desirable for diving and provide some of the best in the Caribbean, if not the world; but some dive conditions may not be well suited for beginning divers or someone just starting over after a lengthy break from diving.

Average Depth: Recommended maximum sport diving depth is 130 feet.
Our dives are as follows:

Deep (D) AVG: lOOft MAX: 130ft
Intermediate (I) AVG: 60ft MAX: 90ft
Shallow (S) AVG: 50ft MAX: 70ft
All dive sites have permanent moorings on them and the lines are used for descents, ascents, and safety stops.

Multilevel dive computers are used in planning all dives; ascents are made at 30 feet per minute; safety stops, at 15 feet, are done on all dives.

The dive sites are chosen based on weather and water conditions; also, the diver's skill, ability, and choice as to the type of dive they would like to do. There are no "bad" dive sites around Saba; we choose the ones which we feel are best suited to the individual divers.
